General

What is Recó?

Recó records conversations, transcribes them, and uses AI to extract topics, decisions, and action items.

Is Recó free?

Recó is free to download. Recording, transcription, and on-device AI analysis are free. An optional Premium subscription (auto-renewable) unlocks cloud-powered deep analysis — richer briefings, adaptive notes, sentiment, follow-ups, and effectiveness scoring. Premium cloud analysis uploads audio and transcripts to our AI providers; it's opt-in and can be turned off anytime in Settings.

What devices are supported?

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max or newer, iOS 18 or later, with Apple Intelligence enabled (A17 Pro chip or newer for on-device AI features).

Privacy & Security

Are my recordings uploaded to the cloud?

By default, no — recording, transcription, and analysis happen entirely on your device. If you subscribe to Premium and turn on cloud analysis (we ask first), the audio and transcript of the recordings you analyze are uploaded to our server and our AI providers (OpenAI for transcription, Anthropic for analysis), then deleted from our server about an hour after processing. You can keep everything on-device in Settings → Process on device only.

Do you have access to my conversations?

By default we can't — they live only on your device. With Premium cloud analysis enabled, your audio and transcript pass through our server and AI providers solely to produce your results, then are deleted (~1 hour). We don't build a long-term store of them.

What data do you collect?

Optional, anonymous diagnostics and usage analytics (you can turn these off in Settings), which never include your audio or transcript text. No account, email, or personal data is required. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual recordings in the app, or uninstall to remove all local data. Cloud processing data is transient and removed automatically.

Recording

Is it legal to record conversations?

Recording laws vary by location — some require all parties to consent, others only one. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws where you are. When in doubt, tell everyone you're recording.

Can I record phone calls?

No. Due to iOS restrictions, Recó can only record audio through the device microphone, not phone calls.

How long can I record?

There's no hard limit; Recó can process recordings of several hours, though very long recordings take longer to process.

Transcription & AI

How accurate is transcription?

Accuracy depends on audio quality, accents, and background noise — typically 90–95% in good conditions. Always verify important details against the original recording.

What languages are supported?

26+ languages, detected automatically, including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Why do I need Apple Intelligence enabled?

On-device topic extraction and chat use Apple Intelligence. Enable it in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri. Without it you can still record and transcribe.

Troubleshooting

Recording or transcription failed

Check that microphone and speech-recognition permissions are granted (Settings → Recó), ensure enough free storage, then restart the app. If a recording fails to process, Recó keeps the audio and retries automatically.
